What is a good way to dye my hair blonde?

I have dark brown hair, and I plan on going to a salon to have it dyed blonde. But my hair is really thin. What are some ways to make sure my hair stays healthy and not look super-thin?

Should I just highlight the whole top of my head and keep my dark brown as a lowlight or what?

I want something that looks good, and wont make my hair look super thin.

Go to a good hairstylist, and not just any salon. I can't tell you how many times you see someone who tries to go blonde from dark blonde and it turns a yellow orange color. They have some stuff that is more gentle, I don't know the name of it but it doesn't stink. I have really thin hair too, and I usually pay $100 but the girl does a good job so it is worth it to not look like I dyed my hair with a highlighter.

My hair was dark brown then the gray came in and the hair was turning black. I hated it. I went and bought the Ferir (spelling) that will take all the color out of the hair. My hair was orange. Then the next day I did it again and then colored it a very light beige blonde. My hair is pure white and I love it. It takes a bunch of work but it was worth it.

To keep it healthy, just make sure to condition it every time you wash your hair. V05 makes a great (and cheap!) spray-on volumizing product that is also a heat protectant, so it keeps your hair healthy from that AND makes your hair look less thin. I love it.

I say do hilites. The darker pieces in between the light will add depth and make your hair look a little thicker. You can leave the bottom dark if you want. I would.
