i think you have to bleach it...then put the hair dye in....depending on how dark your hair really is.

Your best bet would be go to the salon . They may have to color it more than once to get the color you want. Good Luck !

Well I've been dying my hair black and dark brown myself and I went to the salon a month ago to get blonde streaks put in it and they could only get it to a light bronzey-honeyish brown. It ended up looking okay but not the Christina Aguilera blonde i was hoping for. :/

If you've only dyed your hair once though, it should be easier to get the color back out of it. Good luck!

Hi tis is hairdresser gurl here ,

The best way to go blonde is to first get a full head of foils done every couple of months and before you know it you will be blonde its the easiest and best for keeping some of the condition in your hair cause lests face it fried blondes not a good look :) Hope i have helped you ... Good luck (Blondes have more fun i would know LOL )

i don't know about dyed dark hair but i do know that if you had naturally dark hair, it will take two or three times to get your hair blonde without frying your hair. that's because there's so much colour it takes a while to get it all out. the orange stage is inevitable.

i would suggest doing it at home first then salon as it may be cheaper

this is such a hard thing to do, now that you have color in your hair..........you need a color remover, they sell one at sally beauty that is pretty good. It's called color fix. I personally would not recommend doing this task yourself though. I think what you should do is go to a salon to get all over heavy highlights, that is what i did for two years and now i am back to being completely blonde. I went regretably brunette and it was not for me. I used the colorfix to remove the brunette color, but it wasn't enough so the stylist had to use shades by redken to make me a pretty light brown and then she just did all over heavy highlights and eventually i finally got my blonde hair back.

Look if u want it done right ....then do it your self! my friend has medium brown hair and she's been going to the salon for years and every time ..even though she said Brown....they died her hair an auburn red. it was pretty but not what she wanted so recently instead of going to the salon that she usually goes to she went to the store bought some of the hair dye that you see in the hair care section and did it her self. SO what I'm saying is all you have to do is go to the store by the dye follow the directions on the back and the rest is shall we say..........Blond!

*GOOD LUCK*

Get yourself to a pro. I have done hair color myself and have gone to the pros. I've found that when i'm natural, I can do the at-home thing. However, once I've done something myself, I need to get an expert to come in and fix what I've done. You did your own 3 months ago...it's time to call in the pros.

you have to bleach it.

GO TO A SALON! a color expert would be the best person to go to. not everyone can do this sort of thing.

you need to bleach it to the correct level (if you dont want orange, you need to bring it to at least a level 9). because you have color on your hair, and anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of regrowth, the new, uncolored hair will take alot quicker than the previously colored hair (especially because its on your scalp, and your body heat will make your roots process faster). you need to know what developer to use, how to apply it to ensure an even lift (so you dont get spots), how to make sure your roots and ends come up the same color (you have to apply to the colored hair first, and then know when you should apply to the roots), and lastly, you must know the laws of color and color theory in order to formulate a correct toner to use after its bleached (unless you want yellow hair). because you died it a dark brown, it could take 2 or 3 times to get it to a pretty color. it could very well turn red, orange, or even pink, depending on the brand of color you used, and the dominent pigment in the shade you picked. on of my clients had blonde hair with dark brown underneath, and decided she wanted it all blonde again...well, she went through 3 different shades of salmon, and 3 seperate trips to the salon until we finally got it all out, and her hair is pretty damaged from it.

i'm not going to explain all this to you because 1. i'm not a teacher and 2. i didn't pay $12,000 for school and work 4 years at a salon to explain to someone else how to do my job. just trust me on this one...you don't want to mess with this stuff. you could really damage your hair, and i can guarantee you it wont come out right, and you'll end up paying more in the end to get it fixed.

another thing to consider is the upkeep. if you go blonde, you'll start to see roots after 2 weeks. most of my clients who go all blonde like that regret doing it, and end up just dying it brown again because its too much maintenance (unless you want to be that girl with 2 inches of brown hair and the rest blonde...its not something i would suggest).

a more natural way to go would be just to highlight it. you'll be able to go longer between visits to the salon, its less maintenance, shouldn't be any more expensive, and much prettier and natural looking.

but whatever you do...please don't attempt this yourself.

Okay, the only way your hair will become orange is if you try to dye it blonde in one session. and trust me, after your hair gets fried you will care. You should always go to a hair salon to color your hair, and you shuld highlight your hair really heavy once every three months. Then after that you can dye it blonde. And, invest in dome good quality shampoo and conditioners... baby your hair too, when you have nice hair you look polished!

When your hair is that dark and when you want to go a lot lighter bleaching is the answer. But try to use a conditioner with the bleach because bleaching will defiantly damage your hair, and i would suggest go to the hair salon to get it colored. basically any type on chemicals you put in your hair....go to the salon.
